new year in northern darkness

Went up to grandmas house in Norway to celebrate the new year. It was built in -78 so I’ve been up there alot and through all my life. But this time it had been a couple of years, so it felt really nice to be back. The house is pretty far up on a mountain, just above the tree line, so you can’t get there without a snowmobile. You have to get your water from a iced up brook further up the mountain. And to keep warm you’ve got the fireplace. It’s pretty much dark all the time and it’s always still. Dead quiet. It’s great.

speaking in london

Did my little speech thing at the CaT event for AdAge/Creativity in London, which was a lot of fun. Presenting a case study in how to succeed in social media never felt so yesterday! But nevertheless, everyone seemed to like our insights and thoughts and getting all the latest development in augmented reality, social tracking for the future city and what mobile communication will be about - was just as mindbending as inspirational. Met up with alot of friendly faces too. Old and new. Spent the second day with some aspiring new colleagues and met up with old friend Johan Tesch at BBH. Big agency, nice guy, decent coffee. London is ok. When the taxi’s start accepting cards this town could actually become an alternative. Nah, not really, but anyway: Jolly good.cadogan gardensTV lads. silver in london international awards

Heinz Talk to the Plant just got silver in LIA09. Kick ass. That’s the seventh major award for the campaign this year. Kick ass. (The guy in this pic is not from our agency, but the award he’s holding will soon be here, on my desk, to be polished and worshipped.) Kick ass.

berlin

After some major client meetings in Copenhagen, our team went down to the Fatherland for some well earned Klopse and Underberg. I’ve been to Berlin about once a year since I was 16 or so, but prior to this trip it had been three years, so it felt really nice to be back where the beer flows like wine. Berlin never disappoints - but the weather was really awful, cold and windy. Thanks to our German friend and guide Hendrik - we had a pleasant mix of experiences in German food culture, drinking and dancing. Dinner at the very very German Pratergarten Gaststätte, drinks at the kick-ass burlesque rockbar White Trash and the typical nice Berlin club experience at the Watergate. Wieder ein großes erlebnis!

listen to me

Recently did a couple of lectures for Swedish design magazine Cap&Design. The last one, held at Berns in Stockholm, was pretty fun so I decided to try and do this talking thing some more. Coincidentally, American ad magazine Creativity called shortly after and wanted me to talk at their CaT event in London in November. Creativity and Technology, very hands-on. Sounds like fun. Let’s do that.

montana and work at the la office

We went for a long walk the other day, all the way from Venice up to west Santa Monica where I haven’t been before. Right between Santa Monica and Brentwood there’s a really nice little shopping area on Montana Ave. Small shops and boutiques, barber shops and cafés. Real nice and cozy. Another nice thing about Santa Monica is our office there. Got some work done and met some new, friendly faces. The Crispin deal is still proving to be for the better, I guess.
